Question:

on a 2003 Ford Crown Vic. Which wire coming from the brake light switch is the hot wire, the top or bottom?

Both wires are green but unsure if it is the top or bottom wire.

Answer:

go to autozone and get a test light (looks like a screwdriver with a light in the handle and a ground) ground it and poke it on each wire, light lights up you got the hot one.
get a test light and check them but make sure your not pushing the brake pedal down when testing
both wires are green because it is a continuation of the same circuit. They are both the hot. power comet to the switch and when you depress the pedal the contact in the swich makes and the power continues to the brake lights in a sense hooking the two wires to each other. and making them one. But only one of them will show power (from the battery) until the pedal is depressed. Then both of them will have power as the brake lights come on (if everything is working properly)
Uhhh, if you don't push the brake pedal down, the light won't come on when you are testing it...
