I am at the part where you have to jump for the water wheel thing to get in the window but i cant figure it out! Can anyone help me?!?
I would think you need a flexible mould for polyester resin. I think a steel bowl would be too rigid to allow for removal of the cast, even with release agent, you'll juct end up chipping or cracking your cast. A rubber moulding compound like vinamold or silicone would be best. You'll probably need a two-part or even three-part mould if you want a hollow bowl shape rather than just a solid hemisphere of resin. If that's what you're looking for, a cheap mold could be made by cutting a rubber ball in half and filling it with resin.
I learnt the hard way, as you are! Clean the outside of your pipe with wire wool, use an acid flux smear over your nice clean end, Warm the pipe from behind your joint, apply some solder, while its flowing, rub the wire wool around the pipe to give you a nice smooth shiny tinned pipe. Clean the inside of your fitting well, and apply flux to the bits, slip the bits together, to be sure the flux is well distributed a turn helps. Now, gently heat, better to heat the larger part ('T' or Elbow) and let the heat conduct through. As soon as the solder flows, take the heat off, else you will 'dry' the solder (it will go a dark colour if you dry it) If it needs cosmetic tidying, be very careful. As you will use acid flux, give your work a good wash over/flush.
