Question:

one cent 1943D copper?

i got one cent year 1943 there is a D under the date(1943D) copper........ how much is it worth???

Answer:

if a magnet picked up the cent then it is a copper plated zinc coated steel cent that was the common coin that year. It was plated to try and fool people and is actually illegal to own due to that fact. I don't think the secret service cares too much, for there are a lot of them around. I have one, but it was sold to me as a fake. I think I paid $2 for it about 10 years ago so maybe there up to $5 by now. It is just a conversation item due to the real copper ones are so rare, for 1943 was the only year they made the zinc coated stell cents, then found out it was not a good idea, for they rusted.
Check with your local coin dealer or check one of the coin books at the library.
1943 was the year for zinc pennies, not copper use the magnet test if the magnet picks it up, its zinc, not copper i doubt you have an original copper penny the oldest trick in the book is to copper plate a zinc penny
