Question:

plastic wrap as a baking sheet?

i'm baking a chocolate cake, but to keep the cake from sticking to the pan, i have to use a baking sheet, i happened to not having it at the moment, can i just use a plastic wrap on the pan and pour the batter in and bake it in the oven? thanks :]

Answer:

No you cannot because plastic melts.
No, that will not work.
NO plastic wrap will melt and ruin it. I'd use butter and flour to coat the pan or cooking oil and flour or shortening and flour or any nonstick cooking spray. You might be able to use tin foil or wax paper but never plastic wrap it will melt into your cake and stick to the pan and ruin your baking pan.
NO! You can use parchment paper ( aka baking paper) or tin foil but not plastic wrap or waxed paper. Waxed paper would likely burn and plastic wrap will melt and ruin both your cake and pan and put out gases (from the melting plastic)that are not safe for you to breathe. Use shortening or butter to grease the pan and then put about 1-2 tablespoons of flour in the pan and shake it to coat the pan with flour. This is the traditional way of keep a cake from sticking to a pan.
