PLEASE HELP ME!!!! ANYONE WHO BUILDS BODYBOARDS OR KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT IT PLEASE READ DETAILS!?

im making a bodyboard for a school project. im using polyethylene foam for the core. and polyethylene hard slick but i need something to use as a skin. im gonna probs use a paint, tho if someone could recomend a thin, heat bonding foam , that would be great as wellgt; anyone know what i can use as a skingt;? please. thank you soo much

Answer:

Well you'd do better to start with a polystyrene, polyester or polyurethane foam for one thing. They're a lot easier to shape and all of the other resins will bond to them. Polyethylene foam won't allow you to bond other resins or paints to the surface after you shape it. Polyethylene will also always remain flexible and won't hold it's shape while the other foams are much more rigid. I'd suggest starting with polystyrene because it's the cheapest and then coating it with a good epoxy resin and thousand cloth or a higher grade surfboard cloth if you can get your hands on it. Good luck with your project
