plumbar ocming to fix leak (replace section of copper pipe) should we use plastic, polyethylene, PVP, copper?

Answer:

For water supply, you should only use copper. IF you are replacing a leaking section in a coper system, you should only use copper. I am surprised to hear there is a leak. A well built copper water supply line should last for 100 years. Perhaps a joint simply needs to be resoldered, or was a pipe frozen or punctured somehow? Plastic piping is not well tested by time. While current plastic technology is better than the horrifically bad materials used a few years ago, it still has unproven long term durability and health effects. Further, in my opinion, a home with plastic piping will be harder to sell and worth much less than one with copper supply lines. Astrobuf
replace copper with copper. Good Luck
replace it with copper, you can use pvc but your better off using copper.and if it is on the hot water line definitely use copper
