I have had the 'service vehicle soon' light come on recently and at the same time my front and rear fog lights stopped working. I was told it is a burnt out fog light that is causing the service vehicle light to show and all the fog lights not to work. But how do i know which light is busted if none turn on? And would 1 burnt out fog light cause the other 3 not to work? And could it really be just a busted fog light causing the 'service vehicle light'?PS. I have scanned the car for codes and none came back. Thanks.
One blown light WILL cause the service VEHICLE soon light to come on. This is not the same light as the Service ENGINE soon light, the grand Am has both lights. The SVS light is an indicator of failed vehicle safety systems which includes exterior lights. A dealer can read the codes and tell you why the light is on, however it will probably be expensive. Autozone or similar shops can read SES codes for free but they cannot read a SVS code. By all the lights going out at the same time you more likely have a fuse, switch, wiring, or body control module problem. If you want to be sure just replace all 4 lights, if it doesn't work then you know the problem is somewhere else.
If none of the fog lights work it's probably the switch or the fuse.
Might have a surge in power. Check fuses, but i don't think that's the problem...I suggest replacing it again or take it back to autozone or the mechanic. Wish i could be more help
I really would guess that the 'Service Engine Light would not come on just because the fog light went out. My 2000 Grand Prix GTP right fog light went and out and the Service Engine Light never came on and the left would still work. I would guess it is your fuse; or its your switch. I would ask your local mechanic to scan your car for the reason the Service Engine Light is on; and to see whats causing your fog lights not to come on. Good luck!
Rear Fog Lights?? Those 2 at the back on the bottom bumper are Reverse Lights. And 1 burned out light would not cause the light to come. You have something wrong in the fuse or relay which both of those are located on the RIGHT HAND side of your instrument panel. Does the light illuminate on the switch when you turn the fog lights on? If not, may be the fuse or relay. Also possible the switch it also could be the Body Control Module since it is the one that grounds the relay to turn on the fog lights when it sees the command when the switch is turned on.
