i have an amp with an 80a fuse i figure i shoud use a power cable with a 100a inline fuse what guagee should i use? also can i get two 8 guage wires with 50a inline fuses both to the ampthanks guys
I also use an 2 channel amplifier with an 80amp fuse on board (I'm running two of them actually). If you are only running the one amplifier, 4 gauge cable is a safe option. If you're going to be running more amps, go 0 gauge. The only time you'd look at running multiple power cables from the battery is if your audio application demands it (like SPL cars, that run anything in excess of 4 amplifiers with MEGA continuous running power and also running multiple batteries at that, too). I don't think you're going that far, so the single run would be sufficient. From your 4 gauge cable, run a distribution block with however many points of 4 gauge cable running to your other amps. Hope this helps you :)
always go with the 4 gauge...u dont need to go any bigger like 2 or 0 gauge unless u just want to....alot of people say to go 2 gauge or 0 gauge when u add more power but look at ur powerline to ur house...its 4 guage and it generates 10x the current ur car will.....
best to use 4 gauge or bigger. i wouldn't use 2 different wires because more power will run through one of the wires
i do no longer propose splicing the cable jointly, becuase they are able to grow to be unfastened inflicting a short interior the relationship and injury your kit. The maximum secure situation to do could be purchase new cable. while you're set on splicing, do no longer use tape. you could bypass to a ironmongery shop and %. up a twine splicing kit with the gadget and connectors for little or no money, yet be sure you utilize the right length connector for the gauge of twine you have.
Every body is saying the same thing You should listen to the general consensus///use a 4 gauge with a 80amp or a 100amp fuse if the amplifier does not have an internal fuse or onboard fuse, use a 80amp fuse two 8 gauge power cables will not give you the same performance as a 4 gauge power cable(they should in theory)but their is alot of science and phisics mumbo jumbo that i cant explain as good as a scientist(so just trust me on this one)
