Question:

Pressure cooker - aluminum vsstainless steel?

I am looking to purchase a pressure cooker and the size that i want comes in aluminum while alot of the others are made from stainless steelI am wondering if the metal makes a difference in the funtionality and if one doesn't stand up as well as the other.

Answer:

I have a large aluminum pressure cooker that I have owned and used often for over 25 yearsIt's never given me a bit of troubleI do not cook really acidic things in it (which is what will cause pitting of the aluminum)If the largest size is the one in aluminum, I think it may be possible that it's not in stainless steel because of the weight issueThe aluminum pot and lid are quite heavy even when empty, and when they are full of food, it's difficult to move the full potThe instructions for mine said to move the pot from the stove-top to a sink of cold water to reduce pressure instantlySo mostly, I don't carry the pot when full; I leave it on the stove-top and simply remove the pressure-weight (the jiggler) while wearing a oven mitt, when I need to reduce the pressure instantlyHope this helps.
The proper way would be to cut out the affected area plus an inch or tow, weld in a new piece, smooth it out with grinding, hammering and minimum body filler, then priming and paintingIf you don't care about the looks, use bondo.
if you dont have a plasma cutter take it to a shopbut other than that dont put bondo on it that will just make it worse over timego to lowes or auto zone and get some metal like alunimum or somethin step one use plasma cutter to cut out the hole 2 cut the alunimum with like tin cutters or somethin 3mold the alunimum to the shape of the hole 4weld the piece to the carNote to user: please take the wheel off before doing this lol FYI lol 5use a sealant to seal for rust and what not get money stay true
Rusteez from Cars lol kidding I don't know - not a car personSorry
