Problem created by hard water in boiler?
Yes there can be lots of problems from hard water in a boiler. The number one is water restriction. The water will not flo correctly, especially on a domestic hot water coil. This is where you get your hot water for your house. You might get no hot water. Hard water can also cause your boiler to fail more quickly.
If this is a persistent problem, you could install a water softener.
