I seen this on Google and through a Government website. I wanted to know do the positive and negative spectrums of the EMAG change at all over time in a particular geographic area or are they the same polarity and strength all of the time?
I used similar but more detailed magnetic maps to interpret geologic structure for oil exploration. The magnetic character of a particular area does not change unless some new magnetic material is added like pipe in a well or a lava flow. The polarity and strength do not change like the magnetic flux lines that surround the earth. The magnetic data can be used to determine the depth to magnetic material like lava flows, volcanic dikes and granite basement. I used them to find abandoned wells in China that were not documented or miss plotted on maps.
