what's the right way of mixing it? the instructions said 1 part of water for 5 parts of cement. i poured 1 cup of water to 5 cups of the cement but i the right texture didn't come out. it's too dry.
Is the Quikrete in the red bag (fast setting ) if so this is for setting post and no mixing is needed just poor the bag in the hole around your post wet it and it wll set in 40 minutes. If you are not using this for post yuo need to pick another product that does not set up as fast and can be mixed .
The quickset has dried and irritated the skin, this is actually a mild chemical burn. I'd suggest a good hand lotion, or even petroleum jelly. Soaking them in cold water may help relieve the 'burning' sensation when it flares up. If you have any kind of 'burn ointment' it may help. If you've got a pair of vinyl gloves that will fit him, I'd slather the hands, and put the gloves on. In a pinch, you can tie a couple of ziplock bags over them, to help keep from getting the lotion, or petroleum jelly over everything else, heheh. Good Luck
Quikrete Quick Setting Cement
quick setting is quick like 20 mins or less of total workable time, from mixing to placing ... mix it fast and to the right consistency (mashed potatoes like).... whats it for ?do you really need quick set?... and after a certain point too much water will weaken the cement , 20 percent is good to the one below......mix it in a wheel barrow then pour it, if you mix it in the hole , dirt will get in and cause voids , weakening the concrete
