I was never really crazy about the pre-66 stuff they released. It is not horrible, but I prefer the White Album or Abbey Road as opposed to say Meet the Beatles. I guess I like them better when they started experimenting.
So since YOUR house gets to hot if you shut the door, your neighbours should shut the door with an infant inside the house that will get just as hot? Because what, it's okay if their baby suffers from heat stroke as long as you can enjoy some peace and quiet? So since you are bothered by the sound of a screaming infant your neighbours have to deal with the sound of your blaring TV while trying to soothe their baby? Sounds to me like their is a lot of bothering going on at BOTH sides of the fence. I'm sure your neighbours can be annoying, but it doesn't sound like you are completely innocent of retaliation or completely reasonable yourself.
Yes, they are often used. They are numerous and they are very small. If you look carefully at the edges of most buildings, such as the buildings at a university you will see what appear to be spikes all around the edges. Those are lightning rods. They serve to bleed charges from the building to the clouds as the pointed parts of the rod is where the electric field is greatest. The charges neutralize the potential that may exist between the region in the clouds above the building and nearby area, thus lowering the likelihood of a strike.
