i am thinking of starting a new career in real estate can anyone give me some good advice

Answer:

Search yourself . . . If you find that you do not like sitting in meetings? Don't get into this career . . . It's good money, if you score a lot of sales, but you spend a good deal of your time indoors, in meetings . . . Yuk
Is this a salaried position or Commission. If it is the latter you may go some time with no money. Think carefully.
depends on what you are looking for. Real estate is a complex game. Are you thinking of investing in real estate? If you are shoot me an email at liang_jame@bentley.edu
Here's the deal with real estate. If you want to be successful then you have to work it. Some people have the misconception that you just go in to the office, answer the phone for a couple of hours a day and that's all you need to do to be successful. It's not. You have to contact people. You need to contact everyone you know asking them who they know that's looking to buy or sell a house. You need to contact For Sale By Owners (FSBOs) and expired listings and try to get them to list with you. You have to treat it like a full time job if you want to make money. One broker I had said if you make 10 phone calls a day you will be successful.
So you know, i've been a licenesed REALTOR for four years. Currently i am selling motorcycles. Real Estate is a tuff game, realtors can be ruthless to eachother. It is a cut throat business. I mean that they fight to get a listing.... Any hoo, i enjoy being a realtor but to do it full time is tuff. Starting out 90+% fail ! Money is the key, you need money to live on and money to to be a REALTOR. With all fee's and member due's plus lot's of thing's you don't think about point is $$$$$$. Oh ya, TAXES... I would talk to some Broker's and REALTORS in your area and get some different view's first hand In my area there are over a 1000 agents. Only a handfull with many many years do well. 5% of realtors do 95% of the business.
