Question:

Remove adhesive and grount from old ceramic tiles?

Having done some work in the bathroom we would like to reuse some of the tiles we took of which arent broken, does anybody have any suggestions as to how we remove the adhesive and grout so that they can be reused?

Answer:

Just get new tile, its worth it in the long run!!! Your time is worth something
Are you speaking strictly of Adhesive? Perhaps on the face? OR Tile Mortar still attached to the back of the tile? Adhesive would be removable with products like GOOF OFF or other such designed for the purpose. Mortar removal cannot be accomplished by any means so far offered. Rev. Steven
I tile every day of my life, and have been re-mediating an 11,000 sq. ft. floor since the floods. I suggest a Diag. grinder. What matters more than HOW, however, is the substance used to hold the tile. Adhesive or Mortar? For grout removal use a diamond blade on the grinder, and run the blade along the edge of each piece of tile. I also flip the tile over and GENTLY grind off as much THINSET as possible. To re-use, even those not totally clean, use a thinner spread of MORTAR and press, until flush with any adjacent. Steven Wolf Just my two sense
really hard to do without breaking them, I have heard that if you get them cold, the mortar can be tapped off, but I always thought they would break, may be cheaper to just replace them
