Topical numbing cream is pointless, and most piercers won't bother with it. Its really not that bad.
Almost all piercers are against using numbing cream, so I don't suggest using it. As for the pain everybody is different. For me personally I have 3 navel piercings, the first one I didn't even feel it. And the second/third ones I did feel them but it didn't hurt..it felt like a pinch. I do suggest getting it done with a barbell...Although pain is different for each person I find that you have less discomfort afterwards with a barbell then you do with a ring.
don't bother using it, it's not that bad, trust me!
