Question:

Science fair project: liquids or metals conduct electricity better The electron and ions are confusing me.?

After testing I know my metals of copper, brass, steel, lead, aluminum and iron all conducted electricityMy liquids of tap water, coca cola, orange juice, hydrogen peroxide, bottled water and vinegar all gave me a negative resultI added salt to the tap water and it conducted electricityI know both metals and the salt water have something to do with electrons and ions - but I am confused on understanding itCan you expalin this to me? Do all my metals have electrons only that make it conduct and the the liquids not have anything and the saltwater have only ions to make it conduct? Or do both metals and the salwater have both electrons and ions? I am so confused???WHY did the metals conduct electricity?WHY did the liquids not conduct electricity? Why did the salt water conduct electricity?

Answer:

Got to love it, is this the best you can do? Why not ask about the dismal job creation, you can blame the Republicans in Congress if you ignore the 30 bills staled by harry reidOr why not ask about the debt or something important instead of making stuff up?
Metals conduct electricity because of the fact that they are essentially ions surrounded by a sea of electrons, which are highly mobile (that is, move around easily) and therefore able to carry an electrical currentIons do not moveCoca-cola, orange juice, and vinegar are all somewhat acidic, containing H+ ion - and, as such, are supposed to conduct electricityHowever, the acids contained within are not strong, and the concentrations of H+ and other ions are smallSo, although these solutions are considered conductive, I can understand that unrefined methods used outside of a laboratory would be unable to detect the amount of current flowingOn the other hand, each mole of NaCl, when dissolved in water, dissociates completely to give a mole of Na+ ions and a mole of Cl- ionsThese ions are able to conduct electricity by moving through the liquid, between the electrodesStill, the conduction is unlike that of metals: it induces a chemical reaction (electrolysis), for species more complex than electrons themselves are responsible for conduction and must be reduced and oxidized.
No he spends his own money how he wants, he will be a much better steward of our tax dollars than obama ($5+ Trillion in new debt in under 4 years.which is almost a 1/3 of our entire $16 TRILLION debt)
thank you for keeping that Mitt Romney does not might desire to run for presidenthe's working because of the fact he's honestly worried appropriate to the USHe might desire to easily spend something of his days in acceptable residences, amazing trip trips, and so onA actually principled guy.
A car elevator is no big deal, so why notThey start at two grand, it's just a hydraulic lift that's allEdit: Romney made the remark about not worrying about poor people because they have all the safety nets like Medicaid, WIC, food stamps, and other assistanceIt's the Middle class he's more concerned aboutBut leave it to a Liberal to take everything out of context and make a mountain out of a molehillBesides, Obama is the Food Stamp President, MrDowngrade himselfI understand Obama loves the poorHe's making so many of them.
