Are BEVs or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles a more promising transportation technology for the future? Should car companies be required to produce electric cars?
Battery electric vehicles (BEV) have a promising future and are presently undergoing a lot of development while they become increasingly available commercially. Hydrogen fuel cell electric cars are another type of electric vehicle. They are less efficient than a BEV but many times have a longer range. California put in place a law that required car makers to make a very small percentage of electric vehicles for sale in the state as zero emission vehicles as long as they are doing business in the state.
We have only one driver and that could be zero, by 2017, so we need one mid size SUV or equivalent. BEV battery electric vehicle won't go 400 miles without hours of charging, but a hybrid would work. A used electric hybrid would be considered, if our present vehicle fails.
NO. Hydrogen is not a fuel, it is an energy transporter, as it has to be manufactured. The process of producing hydrogen and then converting it into electricity is expensive and inefficient.
They do. However almost no one buys them as they cost too much.
