Question:

Should Artificial food Additives be banned?

Answer truthfully. Answers will be used as evidence in my coursework. Lols. Thanks!

Answer:

No. Though they should be tested before being released, removed if something is discovered later, and one should refrain from introducing new additives for doing things other older and more proven additives already can. Many additives are also present in food naturally, so much of it isn't really that artificial.
You need to be very careful with terms like artificial; many people would label such additives as monosodium glutamate (MSG) as being artificial when it's actually extracted from seaweed. Conversely, it is perfectly possible to create vitamin C in the laboratory, so does this make it artificial? If there is clear evidence that a specific additive causes actual damage when ingested, whether it be artificial or not, then there is cause to prohibit its use. However, a blanket ban on any additive that happens to be synthesised is fundamentally stupid. This types of approaches generally come down to ideology rather than science.
No, artificial additives aren't all bad. Think of the shelve life of something from the early 20th century, as compared to now. Also, people like the taste, why mess with people. A lot of people are for all natural, but with all natural there is less to go around. So if you could give a big group of hungry children food that tastes good, is in good amount, and readily available, or give those same kids a lot less food, but it's natural.
