I heard people have been complaining about a serious sound leakage (people around you being able to hear your music), and it is way more expensive. No, I don't think you should buy those (but I personally not willing to spend more then $35- $40 on a pair of headphones).
Well, I do think you deserve what you got. And I hope you have learned a lesson, even so somehow I doubt it. As to what is wrong with the car? It could be a whole number of things and the best and smartest thing would be to have the car checked out by a mechanic.
