Question:

should I buy a 1995 mercedes c220 with a bad engine wiring harness?

I am looking at buying a 1995 mercedes c220 in pretty decent conditionits around $2k and has around 170k milesIt has bad engine wires and I know this model is notorious for these problemsI have priced the engine wiring kit for $800 and have a mechanic to replace itshould I still buy the car or just not mess with it at all ? I am considering also offering the dealer $1000 cash

Answer:

If the dealer won't fix it don't buy it!! It probably needs more than the wiring or the seller/dealer would have fixed already to get top dollar/ If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't.PASS!
Definitely push for a low price. No unroadworthy car is worth $2000--especially in a recession. But make sure you don't buy somebody else's problem. Benz's can bleed you dry in repairs.
If the wiring is faulty, you can't really tell about other issues because so many of the clues nowadays are delivered electronically. Faulty wires means you cannot be sure about the data coming through them.
Mercedes Wiring Harness
id highly advise against it. Mercedes are a pain, 95 leaks like crazy, and its not obd2 so not only could the faulty wiring have caused multiple problems you dont know about, you may not even know where to begin once you realize theres more problems. obd1 is not the best diagnostics. if you get it, you might want to have a few grand saved in your bank, or just pay it to your mechanic right now due to the fact you will probably be spending it anyways
