I know that an i5 3550 ivy bridge is better than a bulldozer fx 6100, but it cost 70 dollars more. I don't know if it is worth the investment. I know that the fx 6100, 6 core, can do everything I wanted, like gaming and multitasking. Plus the fx 6100 can overclock very well. But i also heard that the i5 performs so much better.
Ivy Bridge destroys Bulldozer in every area,it's *well* worth the extra $70 @Bhaskar AMD is better for gaming than Intel? Maybe ten years ago. But for the past 5 years AMD has been thoroughly trounced by Intel. Right now AMD's top offering is barely equal to two generation old Intel hardware. Currently AMD has *nothing* than can compete with Sandy/Ivy Bridge. Fact.
In my opinion, you should get FX 6100,see, it doesn't matter greatly hich scores better, it all depends on how stuffs work, I know that Intel performs better than an AMD but all that matters is AMD too will do its work efficiently, so it doesn't matter which you get. Plus AMD are better for gaming. Just pair it up with Radeon graphics and you will get a very good gaming rig....
