Question:

Should I get a leather sofa, or a microfiber one? I have animals!?

I am tired of all the dust and lint, on my old cloth sofa, and was thinking of getting leather, but my small dogs might scratch it. Does anybody have a micro fiber sofa, and does the dust, and lint stick to it? And how is it keeping it clean? Any website I can see some review on micro fiber?I vacuum my old couch, and than when the sun shines in, I can slap it, and see a dust cloud! I hate that!

Answer:

I have a microfiber sofa a microfiber sectional, both from Ashley. I have several pieces in my home from Ashley. Their stuff isn’t well made so it won’t last for decades, but it’s cheap enough I can replace my stuff every few years. The sofa is about four years old, and our stain guard is still holding up fine (or so says that glass of red wine I dropped on it a few months ago…). It could stand to be steam cleaned, but my only complaint about the couch is that the cushion filling didn’t hold up well. The fabric is fine. The sectional is only a couple of months old, but no complaints so far. I have two cats and their hair definitely sticks to this fabric. I have found that rubber cleaning gloves are great for removing hair. Rub your gloved hands along the fabric and the hair will separate from the fabric.
Hi, Do not, do not, I repeat do not get a microfiber sofa. They are awful. I have one. It is bologna that they are stain resistant and can easily be cleaned. At the beginning they do ok however after about six months there's major wear and tear. I would say get a leather one and just keep your eyes on the dogs. That's what I plan to get next time a leather sofa a dark brown one. I too have pets. Have a great day!!
I'd go for the leather. I have a good quality light tan leather couch that I bought 35 years ago, it's still in almost perfect condition, I've always had 2/3 small dogs. There's a small mark on one of the cushions from a wet rawhide bone that dried and stuck to the leather. There's a navy blue, medium grade leather couch in my TV room that's 20 years old, the dogs always pile on it at night, it's in fair condition.
i dont really know a lot about sofas but we used to have a leather sofa and the only problem i remember was when you sat on it for a long time (watching a movie, etc) that it would stick to your leg, but it wasnt sticky. we have a dachshund and she never ripped it. but if your dogs do do stuff life that then you should probably keep them off the couch.-hope that helps
Absolutely do not waster your money on a microfiber sofa. They are bad enough under normal wear and tear, add in the dogs and dust and lint, it's only downhill. Go with the leather!!!!
