This may be one of the craziest questions you have ever heard, but I wanted your opinion on this. My friends husband has a good fashion sense, and helps my friend choose all her clothes. My fashion sense, is , wellconservative ( plain). Once me, my friend and her husband were all out shopping for clothes to wear to a banquet we were all attending. While they were looking at shoes her husband selected a pair of shoes that he thought would look good on me. At my friends urging, I tried them on and they looked very sexy on me, wouldn't thought to purchase them myself. Anyway, my friend said that her husband would be happy to help me choose any outfits I needed anytime. He selected me a nice dress ( classy) to go with the shoes. Now I politely declined the offer, cause I don't feel comfortable having her husband dress me, cause I think I would cause a rift in our long friendship. I know she means well, and want me to fix up more-more classy/sexy and less conservative/frumpy.
Hey, If you have curtain rods on your windows then the best thing would be to hang thick wet clothes (which would cover the window entirely) tuck the bottom part so as the water doesn't drip indoors. Now keep your windows open, the water on the clothes will cool the breeze down. [its the same way an air-cooler works] ..so I am sure this is gonna work for you too :o) the only problem is that you have to wet the clothes every now and then. Cheers.
You can help by putting a fan in a window facing out to help vent the hot air inside the house. My dad had an up-stairs apartment once and it stayed pretty comfortable by opening a window in a back bedroom and at the same time having a fan blowing out in the front window of the apartment, which created an air-flow through the apartment.
you can put reflective material in the windows like those silver screens you see in car windows. They reflect the light from the windows so it doesn't turn into as much heat through the windows. THen you could also get more fans and some nice big steel mixing bowls and then get some blocks of ice and put the ice in the bowl and position the bowl infront of the fan. As the fan blows air over the ice, the ice cools down the air. Or you could get a portable air conditioner if you can aford it.
Anything that will cool the air that the fan is pushing will help. A wet towel far enough behind the fan that it does not get sucked in is a help. covering all windows that are on the sunny side will also help. open the house up during the coolest part of the night then close her down for the heat of the day.
