uniforms just wearing their street clothes because it looks cheap
I will assume you are talking about a small back-packing tent, if you had a big wall tent with a stove area my answer would be different. Open flame is a bad idea. That said this is essentially an over-priced candle. I occasionally burn a candle lantern (One of the good ones with a semi-protected flame). I suspend the lantern from the ceiling of my 3 person dome. It helps provide enough energy to prevent condensation in sub-zero conditions, but does not add significant heat. You are far better off with proper clothing and sleeping bag. The open nature of the flame concerns me more than the CO and CO2 it produces, however if you have a very small tent this may also be an issue. If you do use it, use it with care and caution due a bad idea! Chemical heat packs are cheaper and can be placed right into your sleeping bag (wrap in a sock)

No air conditioning refrigerants can cool steel cold enough to make it shatter. Myth Busted. That is just reticules. Um R-12 and R-134-A come in simple rolled steel canisters. The single charge aerosol can style are aluminum. To do what you suggest would take exotic cryogenic fluids that thieves can't get their hands on, sorry. Edit: OOps! I wasn't thinking like a thief, obviously. At least I am correct on the hardened shank. Thanks for the correction. bikeworks gets my thumbs up.
