Answer:

You may sink in and drown only if the grain is flowing. Walking on grain is just like walking on sand - no problem at all apart from sinking in a bit and having to drag your feet through it....but if the grain is moving; being augered out of a silo, then it is possible to sink in, and very hard to get back out. I checked it out using Google - this question is the third reference given for grain drownings - talk about fast technology!
Yes, the grain can act like quicksand if it is improperly packed, however this rarely occurs. In the rare case that it does however, yes, you would essentially drown.
Hi Josie, The answers to both questions are Yes Yes,..Except, that suffocate would be a more accurate discription, than drowning, because drowning implies that the lungs fill with water,..But with the grain, your lungs to not fill up with grain,..you just cannot get enough air,..
