My smoke detectors in my house are hard wired to the electrical system. When the battery back up goes bad they chirp. This time the system went off all night and this morning for about 10-20 seconds at a time. Home builder told me to change all of the batteries. I will do that but, I think it might be something else. Does anyone have any suggestions?
teflon tape or pipe thread dope will work. Be sure to not get any tape into the torch. (leave the end thread bare) Be sure to not use any kind of grease or oil based product. sometimes beeswax is used as a sealant but most people don't have this handy. If they're not included, pick up some flashback valves to put inline. (keeps things from going boomie)
Don't use any sealants, oxygen is highly reactive, just metal to metal.

Teflon tape or pipe dope are NEVER used on cutting torches, The fittings are precision machined and will seal very well if the fittings are properly torqued and clean!!! :)
