T P.S. A *number of coats* of (liquid) gloss polyurethane would do almost the same thing (**spray polyurethane would be too thin and uneven in coverage). It can brushed on or the item can be dipped if it's dimensional and all surfaces will be covered. The brand of polyurethane called Varathane (indoor, gloss) is a favorite and will be tougher (less scratchable) than epoxy resin as well as UV resistant. Or you can put a coat of it on top of the completely cured resin. P.P.S. If the ModPodge/etc had saturated the paper when you put it on the last layer, your surface is already sealed though you haven't given it a thicker clear glossy finish afterwards. If the paper wasn't completely saturated with the glue though, you'll want to add a layer of glue on top (and let dry) to seal the porous paper before adding the epoxy.
