Question:

Sofa bed vs. Regular bed?

its time for me to buy a new bed and i really dont want to spend alot of money. would i be able to use a sofa bed on a regular basis... if not what are some sites where i would be able to fuind a cheap bed?

Answer:

As others have suggested, consider a futon. They are not very expensive, look great during the day as a 'sofa' and then can be folded out at night into a double bed-size. There are many covers to choose from so you will not have a hard time getting one to go with your decor. Remember to also buy a couple of pillows that you could put a pillowcase on for when you are sleeping. Keep a comforter handy and you'll be good to go!
Use your yellow pages to find a good twin bed. Cover it with a spread designed for a daybed EX. from JCPenney, sears, etc,and put the long side against the wall. Load up on bargain color co-ordinated pillows for the back, Plus your own bed pillow. Save your back! many second hand furniture store may have only slightly used box-springs and mattresses. Do not get a cheap pull-out, inferior support and very hard to move!
Since a good quality sofa bed will last you for years, it’s important you know exactly what you’re looking for before purchasing. Sofa beds are perfect for city living; especially if you’re lacking a spare room or live in a one bedroom flat. Choose a chair bed with no arms for a really space saving minimalist look that won’t crowd your room. These are ideal for studio rooms or for an extra sleeping solution in your bedroom, as they’re a great armchair or reading space during the day.
I know you don't want to spend too much money but keeping your back in shape and your body not sore is more important. I'd buy a good quality mattress, make payments if necessary because in the long run it's worth it. And a good mattress will last years. Sofa bed mattresses are better nowadays than they used to be, but still not good to sleep on every night and if you get a cheap mattress, trust me in a year it will be junk. You get what you pay for. A good mattress is a good investment even if you have to put it on the floor until you can afford the bed. Good luck. Oh and buying a used mattress.....?.....uh I don't know how you feel about laying on someone elses' stuff...but I wouldn't. Get a new one.
When in doubt go to Ikea. But I would not get a sofa bed. You have slept on one of these before, right? It is worse than getting no sleep at all. Seriously Ikea has some really nice stuff or look at a furniture store at the clearance or damaged goods section. This might be kinda gross but the bigger chain hotels get rid of their beds every few years so you could check with them or some of them use liquidators. You can find some really nice furniture for cheap. Also take a look at your local freecycle group. It is a yahoo group and you would be amazed to see what others give away for free. One last thing, it is yard sale season.
