Question:

sofa or sleeper sofa? Is there a difference?

I understand there is a huge difference because one has a bed in it and one doesn't, but my question is which is more comfortable to sit on? I have the opportunity to order the same sofa just one has a sleeper with a $20 difference. My mom swears that the sleeper sofas are terrible to sit on. True?

Answer:

True the sleeper sofa is not as comfortable. In fact it don't feel good sleeping on it either and it is worthless heavy piece of furniture. We once owned two very large sofas. One was a sleep pull out bed which was awful to pull it out and awful to shove it back into the sofa. The other sofa was a normal comfy sofa. We have a large family and the first thing we got rid of the sofa sleeper because nobody wanted to sleep on the thing. Never again would I invest any money on a sofa sleeper. does that give you any information enough not to purchase something you will not be happy owning.
Some are and some arent. Some will have a bar that is underneath the base of the couch where the cushions lie. Once there is some wear to your furniture then it is possible for that to get a tad uncomfortable. If the cushions are nice and fluffy and the bar is not directly underneath then I would think the sofa bed would be your best bet for the price. I would call and ask the manufacturer about the rod for the bed and make your decision from there.
I'm not an expert but call the pull out ones sleepers and the fold back ones sofa beds.
Sleeper sofas have come a long way and are not nearly as uncomfortable as they used to be. That said, generally speaking, a regular sofa is usually softer to sit on. Perhaps you can find a store that carries both and try sitting on them both to form an opinion. Also, do you think you'd use the sleeper function often? If not, I don't think it would really be worth it. Good luck!
