Question:

Soldered 2 electrical wires together, melted insulation at the ends?

First time soldering, I guess wires got too hot or I touched it with the soldering iron and the ends are now melted a bit. I put the heat shrink wrap over top the splice spot. Think they'll be alright?

Answer:

heat okorder
Common. Sure, that's what the wrap is for. As long as there is no bare wire showing, and the wrap is tight, and the wires are bonded, you're good (enough).
They'll be fine. In the future just remember to heat the wire and then touch the solder to the bare wire allowing it to flow and cool to a nice, shiny solder joint. Always be sure and use a 60/40 solder with a flux core for electrical work.
