I'm considering starting a small saltwater aquarium. What kind of fish, tanks, etc. would be good for an amateur.
More answer than will fit in this box. Best thing is to read a couple books on setting up and operating a marine aq.
I agree with the above poster, never sign that thing, and honestly the best idea, is to go to your dmv, give them the title, and tell them to store it electronically, so that your title is never just sitting somewhere, and whenever you decide to sell it, you just call the dmv and have them send you it

If you start a small reef tank filled with live rock and inverts you will learn more and have more success than if you try to keep fish. Trying to get a balanced tank will take time. As you learn about water chemistry, filteration, aeration and lighting, you will be learning the basics to fish keeping. Eventually you will be able to introduce a small colorful fish or two to your tank if your invertebrates are healthy and growing. How long have you kept tropical fish? You should be an expert at keeping tropical fish before you invest in a salt water set up. Good luck!
generally and even more in saltwater, the smaller the aquarium the harder it is, as the water parameters will change daily in a small tank. 20 is in the intermediate level but can be done. Your going to want to get live sand and live rock around 1 pound per gallon, set up the HOB filter, heater, and then mix the saltwater. any mix plus water and use the hydrometer to measure the salinity, should be around 1.020-1.025 specific gravity or 33PPT Allow everything to run for 2-4 weeks until the tank is fully cycled and then you can add fish. Dont do corals until you upgrade the ligthing system and know alot about water chemistry and parameters like calcium etc For fish a pair of ocellaris clownfish will be fine, tangs will outgrow the 20 and need at least 75 gallons for most. Dwarf lionfish are not beginner fish, they can be touch to feed as well and they need at least 55 gallons.
