Steam Water Boiler Questions Please Help!!!!?

I need to help my parents to clean out the water of the steam water boiler. I bleed out the dirty water using the lever until the water run clear. I opened the lever for the fresh water to fill up, but I went to do something else and forget to stop it before it reach the mark. There is a black mark on the tube, and I was told by my parent to fill up to that line. Now the tube is completely filled, is there any way I can lower it down the proper level? Is there any danger fill it up all the way? I tried to use the same lever that I drain the dirty water to drain the fresh water, but the water level didn't go down at all. I took out 5-6 buckets already, anything else I can do?

Answer:

Your boiler should have a drain valve, it will look like an outside garden hose spigot. It will be very low to the floor may have to get a small pail or even a cup to drain into. If you have a spare washing machine hose, that will screw onto the valve.
