Question:

Stretching out a sweater?

Hello,I have sweater that I got as a gift and it has never been washed. The only problem is that the sleeves are a bit tight, is there a way to stretch it out?

Answer:

in most cases , you can fill it back up with air, an be ok,, but do look for break in the tire,,, now on the price of a tire, they go for different prices,
First of all, you need to know what fiber the sweater is knit from; e.g. wool, cotton, acrylic. If it's cotton, the whole sweater will stretch out some just from body heat. Wool has a tendency to shrink if it is hand washed, but I have been able to stretch it back into shape (it's called Blocking). You could try putting the sleeves under a dampened cotton towel, setting the iron to cotton, and ironing it stretching the sleeve a bit with your other hand. Acrylics eventually stretch out, but about then the material looks pretty trashed anyway. Nylon and polyester fabrics hold their shape well, and you may not be able to stretch them very much. Again, try the dampened cloth method.
TAKE TO A SHOP AND HAVE THEM INSPECT IT. ITS PROBABLY NO GOOD.
