Question:

Substitute for lemon-lime soda?

I am making a strawberry daiquiri ( without alcohol), and the recipe calls for some lemon-lime soda. I don't have any sprite or anything like that left at my house. Are there any substitutes for it????

Answer:

Hydrated lime is a chemical used in masonry. It makes up mortar and cement. It has nothing to do with the fruit called a 'lime'. It refers to 'limestone', a soft rock made mostly of calcium carbonate. It has no purpose at all in food or drink. De-hydrated lime is simply the fruit with all the water dried out of it. It is usually ground into a fine powder and used as a flavoring.
