I am wondering about you . Do you have experiences on motorcycle lately like dirtbike? If you dont have experiences. Look up for motorcycle class in phone book. They will teach you how to use it. About purchasing a Road bike, I suggest to get a regular motorcycle . It give you a perfect controls and engine power band, Smooth running, ( not high horsepower- Suzuki GSR600, Yamaha R-6, Too powerful.) Look for a used bike like Honda CB450. Kawasaki KZ 600 Suzuki GS 450. . Please dont buy a sport bike. that will make loose control and too much power for beginners. I have seen kids who bought sport bike. They got crashed. lost grips. EVEN DEATH. I was motorcycle mechanic for over 20 years. also Sport bike have a powerful brakes that will be unexpected quick stop. ( fliped or slip on side of either road. Hope that help you.
