Question:

Taking the real estate exam?

I attended and completed real estate courses about four years ago. However, never took the exam because I got promotion at my job and decided to just stay there full time. Now I am tired of my current job and want to pursue a career in real estate again.Do I have to take the course again, or can I just study on my own and then take the test? Also, how many people make successful careers in real estate in the long run?

Answer:

how much time is allowed to take the texas real estate exam
No, but it would be a good idea to see if the school which you earlier attended has some sample tests or updated information. Worst case, take it as you are now equipped. If you fail, take it again.
what a coincidence--a query like this was asked yesterday. YOU have gone too long re courses. I am sure you will have to re-take at least RE law in your state. MOST states require the course grad to take and pass his state test within 24 mo or take the course again. about 1,000,000 agents are licensed in the US. Maybe 20% earn a living at it. [there were over 50,000 in AZ alone 1 yr ago] available to guide you
It depends on your state law. In Texas, you would have to retake the classes. But dont' pursue a career in Real Estate just because you are tired of your job. Most real estate agents don't make a single dime their first year and have alot of expenses (gas money, signs, advertisements, business cards, you get the idea). And over half the agents quit within the first year, and alomost 80% don't renew their licenses when it's time for them to take their continuing education credits. I'm not saying you can't do it, but make you are financially prepared for not having any income for a very long time.
