All four of my soft light boxes are the same texture, so their biggest difference is the area of scattering and softness of light. Circular soft light box: The scattering area is the biggest, when the subject and the background want to coordinate the light effect, can use one or two to make the main light source, and then the other lights cooperate to play the shadow.
Their use depends on shooting targets and expected results to make adjustments and not to generalize. Many photographers try new things, such as fluorescent tubes, projectors, flashlights... Rectangular light box: This soft light box is most commonly used in daily filming. The scattering area is general, but the multi-lamp combination is the most. In fact, the effect of the shed is not only on the soft light, but also the condenser, the radar cover and so on... Their use depends on shooting targets and expected results to make adjustments and not to generalize.
Star anise: Scatter area and circle is not big, have certain concentrated light effect, but not particularly obvious, especially photograph is partial (makeup, small still matter). This is not used much, most of the time I am mixed together (ashamed..) It is. For example, add a layer of soft light in it, make it less flexible, work with other lights, and create layers (such as when you're making clothing details).
