The difference between soft starter and converter
The soft starter is during the start-up of the equipment to take blood pressure or other ways to reduce the starting current of the inverter machine, the device is in operation according to the equipment load by changing the size of the power frequency and regulating equipment output.
The soft starter is just a thyristor pressure regulating device is simple to start the motor, the motor speed can not be normal, low price; inverter is the AC power supply voltage and frequency, can IGBT chopper can be used to start the motor, can also be normal speed, the price is relatively expensive
Soft start only in low voltage system, so called, high voltage motor is currently using more liquid resistance starter (cabinet), commonly known as "water resistance."". The function is almost the same, but the principle is different. The former is activated by thyristor controlled current limiting, and the latter is started by resistance voltage regulation and current limit.
The inside of the inverter power module is IGBT, suitable for long time operation of the motor frequency; and the soft start most with the SCR by setting the interface to set the start time and the initial voltage and other parameters, once the completion of shipment immediately after the trip (to power) soft start circuit, bypass contactor, access frequency operation.
