One time I talked to a biker that had an old suicide shift Harley. The shift lever was hand operated and located on the left side of the tank, requiring one to take their hand off of the handlebar when shifting. When stopped with the bike in gear, one had to keep the clutch lever depressed with their left foot, meaning you had to balance the bike with your fight foot. This biker told me that he had his bike parked on the side of the street opposite the courthouse. He put it in gear, started to lose his balance toward the left and involuntarily put his left foot down. This took his foot off of the clutch, the bike shot across the street, up the courthouse steps and through the glass doors. Surprisingly he wasn't hurt, but the judge holding court inside was not at all happy.
