Question:

The timing in my singer CG-500?

Has gone out every day I have used it. I took it in 2 weeks ago, paid the 60 to get it fixed and I have had to take it back 4 times since then for the same reason. Now in the middle of sewing a second cloth diaper for today, the needle just drops and of course throws the timing. Before that I sewed polyester and thru the timing out, before that I switched to nylon threading and up out again. I am using the correct needles, I never go past basic zigzag and straight stitch. What gives! I will take it back in tomorrow. Luckly the guy has a 30 day warranty when you pay him the first tume but this is just not normal. I don‘t have the original box. It was purchased 3 years ago and I just started using it this year

Answer:

Maybe it is not the timing at all. Pulling the fabric through the sewing process, forcing the feed dogs to do their job or jamming will cause the timing to go out. Get out the manual and start at the beginning to reacquaint yourself with the machine. READ and apply as you go through the threading and needle installation. Sometimes we get in a rush and overlook the little things that can have a negative impact. Improper threading can result in loopy bottom stitching. Improper placement of the bobbin into the bobbin case or bobbin case into the shuttle can result in loopy stitching on the top of the fabric and /or jamming. Improper installation of needle and a stitch will not form. Wrong type and size of needle for the project and stitches will skip. If you have to take the machine back, take samples of the stitching so the dealer can see what is happening. After the first 90 days of the machine's life with you, you pay the labor. Parts may or may not be covered, depending on what (if anything) needs to be replaced - m anufacturer's warranty. Your dealer's warranty is only for the work he did.
