Not unlikely as binders in instant coffee powder or creamer powder. Check some containers of those.
Feedstocks for the textile industry include wool, cotton, polyester, silk, etc. The production of each of these materials has environmental impacts. For instance, cotton growing is infamous for its heavy use of pesticides and the other environmental impacts of its production (see Ref 1). Polyester and other synthetic yarns are made from oil. Textile manufacturing uses dyes and other chemicals to treat the yarn or manufactured cloth. These chemicals can usually be found in wastewater effluents from textile mills (in greater or lesser quantities). Finally, waste cloth and carpet material can be recycled., reducing the overall impact of creating textiles.
