It will probably cost $2000 or more. They will make you pay for a new hydrant if necessary, bolts piping and then the labor to install it, which they will charge $100/hr and then on top of it they will get someone to inspect it which will cost some money as well. Hitting ice and sliding into it is unavoidable so they should not be putting the cost on you. Unless you were driving recklessly or speeding you should try and dispute the cost. If you cant then you should have insurance pay for it.
