Question:

Too much bleach when washing causes what kind of damage to cloth, besides turning it grey?

My cotton towels disintegrated, but the synthetics seemed to come through it ok. What other kinds of materials are harmed by strong bleach solutions?

Answer:

Natural fibers are harmed by chlorine bleach tton, wool, ramie, etc. Man-made fibers are not very affected by it.nylon, rayon, polyester. Chlorine bleach (Clorox) weakens natural fibers, but Oxygen Bleach, (OxiClean) does not.
