Question:

Trying to TOILET train a cat?

My husband and I are trying to toilet train our year-old catI don't mean litter-train, I mean actual toilet train, as in human toiletAnyways, we bought a large disposable, aluminum turkey roaster and conformed it to the toilet bowl, then put the seat over it and filled it with litterHer normal litterbox is in the bathroom too, so I'm wondering if I should leave that option there, or completely take it away so that the toilet litter box is the only one available?

Answer:

My cat is toilet trainedIt can be done, but it is a long processHere's how to do it1.If the litter box is in the bathroom, put it right next to the toilet2Using phone books (the thick ones), raise the litter box by one inch3Raise it by another inch every week until it is level with the toilet seat(The idea is to get the cat to jump onto the toilet seat and then go into the litter box as it gets higher and higher)4Once the cat has got the idea, then put in your turkey roaster with litter (I however would recommend a large silver mixing bowl)5After 3-4 weeks, take away the litter box completely, leaving the cat with only one choice5Every week, remove 1 cup of litter from the roasterOnce there is no litter, replace it with 1 cup of water every week, until the roaster is full6Once the cat gets the hang of bathrooming in a water bowl, remove the bowl completelyYour cat is then toilet trainedIt took me a little over 5 months to toilet train my catPatience is keyIf you try to speed up the process, you will have cat waste everywhereOnly advance if the cat is readyDo it with the cat's timing and pace in mindGood Luck!
hm.just remember not to use any animal products!
