Question:

Science Experiment Help?

Two days ago I did a science experiment but I believe I did it wrong and my answers are incorrectIt would be great if you could give your input on each question so maybe I can pull the rest of my project together? :)If you placed a galvanized nail, aluminum foil, and a copper wire in a cup of copper sulfate which ones would create a chemical reaction?Does a galvanized nail in copper sulfate act similarly like a galvanized nail when muriatic acid was added to it?Does any gas produce in the cups when copper sulfate solution was added to them? How does the copper sulfate change in appearance before and after the metals where added to them? What substance would you speculate was formed in the reactions that took place?Thank you :)

Answer:

Soup is always a hit this time of yearHere is a great recipe for a great soup that whenever I make it it's gone within the day! Wisconsin Cheddar Beer Soup Ingredients: 1 Bottle of beer (I prefer the taste Yuengling gives to this soup) 8 ozShredded Cheddar cheese 3 medium sized potatoes 1 small onion 1 stalk celery 1 carrot 1/2 pint heavy cream 1 tbspyellow mustard 1 tspFrank's hot sauce 1 1/2 qtwater 2 Tbspchicken base (here's where you substitute your chicken broth) 1/4 stick butter dash of salt Dice the potatoes (skin on is fine), onion, celery, and carrot and brown them lightly in a pan with the butterWhisk the chicken base into the water and put it on to boilYou can use your chicken broth instead of chicken base and waterAdd the browned veggies to the water/brothIn the same pan over a very low flame, pour your heavy cream in and melt the cheddar cheese stirring continuouslyWhen the cheese is melted, add it and the remaining spices to the potPour in the beer and let the soup cook for an additional 15 - 20 minStir occasionally to ensure the cheese getting well mixed in.
Peel and cut up some potatoes, boil the potatoes in the broth, when potatoes are fork soft, reduce heat to medium low, add 1/2 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of flour mixed in it, to the potatoesCook for an additional 10-20 minutesSalt peeper to taste and you have cream of potato soupIf thicker soup required, cook for an additional 10-20 more minutes.
Just add some noodles and a few spices if needed, you can make a simple soupyou can add pieces of chickenA nice chicken noodle soup(:
Homemade soup! Add a few chopped veggies and diced chicken breastVola!
The zinc coated nail will react and be covered in copper metalThe zinc and the the iron will go into solutionAluminum won't react due to the passivating layer of Al2O3Zn(s) + Cu^2+ - Zn^2 + Cu(s) If a zinc coated nail is placed in HCl solution, the nail dissolves and H2 gas is producedAlso aluminum metal will react to produce H2 gasThe chloride ion reacts with the Al-oxide to remove the passivating layer, allowing Al to reactA solution of copper(II) sulfate solution is slightly acidic, and so there will be some H2 small amount of H2 producedThe blue color of copper(II) sulfate will fade and disappear as the Cu2+ ions form copper metalYou will get Cu metal being formed, the galvanized nail dissolves to make Zn2+ and Fe2+ ionWhen the Al reacts it produces Al3+ ions.
