Use and development of micaceous iron oxide

Micaceous iron oxide is mainly used as antirust paint and pearlescent pigment.Micaceous iron oxide is a kind of natural iron ore with mica like layered structure. It is generally considered as an excellent raw material for heavy corrosion resistant coatings.
Abroad, especially in Europe and Japan, the application of micaceous iron oxide is very common. The anticorrosion principle and effect of micaceous iron oxide are studied. It is considered that the main reason for the good corrosion resistance of micaceous iron oxide is that:(1) the layered structure makes it have the high hiding power that other iron oxide coatings do not have;(2) mica iron oxide has a strong absorption of ultraviolet light, which makes mica iron oxide have strong anti ultraviolet ability.
