If I use a dash in a poem can I follow it with brackets or should the dash take their place? Does the dash come at the end of a line or the beginning of the next?
Use a dash at the end of a line - it does not need to start one {Although it may confuse people to think you are combining words, like in-between}

I think you use brackets when you've already used parentheses. Have you considered using a semi-colon or a coma? Dashes in poetry would be taking the place of commas, like Emily Dickinson did, but her use of dashes got people confused. Since commas usually come at the end of lines in poems, that's were dashes would go. Dashes at the beginning would be taking the place of bullets or numbers in itemizing the lines.
