I am wanting to get a viper car alarm with a remote start. my question is how does it know how long to turn the engine? a cold start takes a little my crank time then a warm start.
Turn off radio and acc turn off engine, start the engine using the key 2 seconds later press and hold the valet swith and wait untill the led turn on and the parking lights flash, let go the button, turn off the engine and close the door now try to use the remote start using the remote good luck
Perhaps its the room tempreture. Try transfering it to another room.
I have put several in my cars and and others. They are pre programed and will try long enough to start your car. You can also have the installer set for how long the engine will run before it shuts off, 10, 20, and I believe for 30 minutes. You can get 2 kinds, one where you need to be 50 or less feet from the car to start it or one that will start the car up to 1,000 feet away. I always get the one that will start up to 1,000 feet away. They are great in the winter if parked outside to remove the frost from the windows so you don't need to set in a cold car waiting for it to warm up or in the summer time to get AC started before getting in a hot car. You may use a little more gas by using them, but worth ever bit of the extra gas used. And no to what some say, no one can jump into your car and drive away without the car key. If you don't turn the key on and touch the brake peddle, the engine shuts off.
