102.7 is HIGH for a 7mooldIf his fever didn't come down with the Motrin.GO TO THE DR OR ER! If it comes down, make sure he is still having wet diapers, if he is not drinking or having wet diapers, he could end up dehydrated quick! High temps are nothing to fool around with or wait on.if it doesn't come down, get medical help!! The bath method is not a bad idea, BUT!!, sometimes it can backfire, reducing the temp through a bath can cause the temp to go down, but after, the temp may spike rather quickly and could cause some serious problems. If in doubt.go to the hospital! High temps are there for a reason (something is wrong) if he doesn't have other symptoms (runny nose, cough, etc.) it is very possible that there is an underlying issue (my daughter had a bladder infection and 103 temp at 4mo and was hospitalized) FOR REAL.if it doesn't come down with in an hour of giving the Motrin.take him to a medical professional for evaluation.an infants temp should NEVER get over 103 or even close to 104 that's just asking for damage or death to occur! I don't want to sound scary, but you need to watch him closely! (oh ya, that first guy who said that morbid is an ) GOOD LUCK and remember trust your gut.when in doubt get medical help!!! (p.sI'm a RN student)
With a fever that high I would of took him to the ERYou can also alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours give him 1 then the other in 4 hours if that don't work give him awarm bath dont keep him cover all the time or his fever wont go down at all if I was you I would just take him to the ER if a fever goes to high on a child they can have a seizure My little girl did that.
Continue to talk to your pediatricianWith a high fever like that for a long period of time, baby's can have febrile seizures (also known as fever seizures)Talk to you doctor about thisIf you are not getting satisfaction form the doctor, consider the ER.
With medication, his fever should stay down and he should be comfortable, you'll know when it begins to wear offLot's of hugs if he's wanting that, nice music, a fun movie, or storiesKeep him warm but not too warm and he may like a cool damp washcloth on his foreheadHe also may sleep, my kids sleep way more than normal when sick with fevers, especially this young.
